Create Your Own Space

Create Your Own Space

I truly believe in allowing your creativity to flow while at work. This includes having a comfortable and true to you work space that you want to walk in daily and feel good about. Don’t have an office, maybe it’s a cubicle, home office, or a special place in your home you really enjoy. Your space should always be a reflection of you and the intention you want to set for others who enter. I share an office, so I wanted it to reflect multiple personalities, manly with a bit of class. I looked on Pinterest for some inspirational designs on which style would work best for the whole office. I decided on a color scheme of black, grey, white, and blue. The design would be a mix of industrial and modern, with a fun Nature vibe, mainly to bring a little of my personality in.

  1. CHOOSE AN ACCENT WALL

The accent wall really needed to pop, because the space is small. I chose a Behr Marquee color Dark Secret, which left us with a dark silky wall with a tint of blue. This was only the foundation of the beginning of our design..

  2. CHOOSE DECOR THAT MAKES A BOLD STATEMENT

After painting the accent wall, I wanted to choose light curtains to bring an element of lightness and design. I chose these curtains from target. They were $50 a panel, and I chose a silver curtain rod. I really wanted to stick to dark metals and silver in this room. When hanging curtains, hang them higher than your window to really increase the space in your room. The visual representation to the eye will make the room look bigger. Our next element really had to make a bold statement, and it had to be meaningful. With the love for nature and road trips, it was easy to choose this black and white canvas photo from Ikea with a beautiful silver frame to tie in the curtain Rod.

  3. CREATE A SPACE PEOPLE WANT TO GATHER

We also wanted a comfy space to speak with clients or other coworkers coming in. We found these chairs on Amazon, for $250 each. Don't be intimidated by all these costs. We decided to really splurge on this room to inspire us to work harder daily, but you can definitely create the same vibes on a lower budget. You can look on amazon, thrift stores, Costco, and other affordable places for curtains, chairs, and artwork.

  4. ADD SMALL DETAILS TO TIE IN EVERYTHING TOGETHER

Next is to add all the details, which included cacti plants in white vases, blue lounge pillows, a graystone end table between the 2 chairs, motivational wall art, and a floating shelf to display the office awards. I am really intentional about even the smallest of details that go in the space. The pillows had to be the right blue. The side table needed to match the painting and curtains. And the shelf had to be a present focal point to display the awards for daily inspiration and why we are here to service others.

  5. ENJOY YOUR CREATION!

Overall we have been having a lot of compliments and visitors coming in and out to lounge in our space, which is exactly what I wanted to purposely create. Just a few small changes has really made this space feel special and has kept us feeling motivated and encouraged to be of service to our clients. Hope you enjoy this tips and have fun designing your own special space.
